Music Generation Cork City May-Hum Festival

The School of the Divine Child is delighted to host the  inaugural Colloquium on Inclusive Music Education which is being held as part of Music Generation Cork City’s May-Hum Festival, on Friday May 20th (10:30-5pm)

The conference staring at 11am will feature a performance from our students followed by a performance from past pupil Cillian Mc Sweeney. I think the interactive workshop where various music technologies including soundbeam, eyegaze music, colour keyboard, e-song book will be on display from 1 until 3pm, will be relevant to you.

Saturday’s events are scheduled to take place in UCC.

I would love to see you at this event and  include the invitation below. Please note the RSVP below.

Yours sincerely

Patricia Harrington

On behalf of Music Generation Cork City (MGCC) and SoundOUT, I would like to invite you to the inaugural Colloquium on Inclusive Music Education which is being held as part of MGCC’s May-Hum Festival on Friday May 20th ( 10:30-5pm) and Saturday May 21st (9:30-1pm). The programme will include practical workshops with international experts, and presentations and music performances from tutors and young people from MGCC’S SoundOUT and Cork Community Project programmes (see attached flyer). It will be of particular interest to those working with people with physical or intellectual disabilities and with an interest in inclusive arts practice.

Supported by Music Generation’s National Project Fund, a key objective of the Colloquium is to establish a National Learning Network for Inclusive Music Generation MEPs (Music Education Partnerships)

About the National Learning Network for Inclusive Music Education

The primary objectives of the National Learning Network are to :

Initiate a collaborative Learning Network across Music Generation MEPs to develop, share and disseminate evidence-based inclusive practice for working with children and young people experiencing intellectual, physical and socio-emotional disabilities and challenges; or experiencing other forms of social and cultural disadvantage

Form partnerships with local, national and international networks to develop expertise and advocate for increased participation in performance music education amongst children and young people with additional learning needs.

We would like to thank the School of the Divine Child and UCC for their support in hosting this event.

Please RSVP to musicgencorkcity@corketb.ie  by Monday May 16th or register at www.musicgencc.eventbrite.com and full details of the programme and venues will be forwarded.

Kind regards
